O ur clients for this main floor renovation were a young, busy family who wanted a contemporary space to reflect the spunk and energy of their everyday lives. We knew right away this was the perfect space to inject some fun splashes of colour!

The homeowners have three children and had little time between working and carting the kids to swimming lessons but knew their home was in need of a refresh! They had some existing pieces to work with and comfort, durability and style were all high priority, which happens to be something we specialize in! We pride ourselves on creating spaces that are not only aesthetically beautiful and vivacious but also functional and will stand the test of time.

As you can imagine, storage was necessary! We designed custom shelving/cabinetry and brought in storage consoles wherever possible. All the kids nick nacks, board games and accessories had a safe place for storage in each room we designed.

The family loves to read, this inspired our makeover of their living room into the perfect home library. It included a cozy built-in bench with reading lights on either side for the perfect place to curl up and read a book. While, bookcases on either side of the bench provided excellent storage for their entire inventory of books! The seating area was brought in to the centre of the room created an inviting conversation opportunity. A room that was previously ignored is now serving the duel purpose for have great conversation over a glass of wine when entertaining or curling up and reading a book when home alone. Using Benjamin Moore HC-154 Hale Navy gave this space it’s ‘wow’ factor. The gold accents refined the space and complimented the blue walls.

The foyer was grand in size but fell flat with interest. We immediately knew that applied moulding along the stairwell wall would be a wonderful way to achieve that designer look the clients were looking for. The stairwell is always a key focal point in a foyer and adding the wall moulding really drew your attention to it. We also sourced a unique console paired with a large-scale mirror and lamp to add some personality and suit the scale of the double height ceiling. The substantial, open light fixture with rope detailing is the icing on top of the cake for this foyer.

We carried the blue and orange theme into the family room, making this space vibrant and welcoming as the hub for their families activities. The massive sectional not only seats the entire family plus some, but also, it offers an opportunity to relax after a full day. Window seats allowed for more storage in the drawers below and added another layer to the room, framing the fireplace accent wall.

The cabinetry was given a new fascia and a fresh coat of paint for a quick and easy refresh. We installed new light fixtures as this is the first thing to look overly dated in a home. Changing out the light fixtures is a great opportunity to update the look of any space within a reasonable budget.

The homeowners were incredibly happy to be living in a space that reflected their spirited family. The main floor was transformed into a welcoming, livable yet luxurious space for the whole family to enjoy for years to come.
